Between following NYFW coverage and the spring-like weather yesterday here in Manhattan, I'm craving Spring style more than ever. I thought what better way to collect and organize my Spring 2011 style wish list than returning to the blog after a long hiatus.

Maxi skirts are one of my favorite peices for the upcoming season and there are so many to choose from. Above are a few of my absolute favorites (namely the Rage & Bone pleated silk maxi), and could see any of them paired with a simple v-neck tee and flat sandals for a super chic look.

LOUNGE WEAR

Once the weather isn't hot, my weekend wear pretty much consists of leggings paired with some kind of thin v-neck tee and a long wrap sweater. I'm ready to switch it up (a little bit) and am loving cropped, tight-fitting sweat/jogging pants. Though I'm prepared to wear them with low boots (like one of these), I love some of the styling I've seen that pairs them with heels or wedge boots, making the look totally unexpected yet completely stylish.

Alternately, cropped or fitted sweatshirts are so cute when paired with either something equally as comfy like leggings, or something unexpected, like the gorg sequin skirt below. I'm ready for a very comfy Fall.

BAG LADY

I always read how awful it is for our backs and shoulders to be carrying around large, heavy bags all day. Normally I pay no attention to this school of thought, until recently when I opened my large L.A.M.B tote that I use everyday to lighten it up a bit and found the following:

- 2 magazines
- a hardcover book I'm reading
- a glass bottle of black tea
- a pair of wedges

Although I still stand by the fact that I never know when I'm going to need reading material or need to throw on heels or be thirsty, I do think carrying around a 10 lb bag is beginning to have some effect on my shoulder/back. I think a good compromise is having a week day bag (to carry my lunch, books, work material and going-out-after-work shoes) and a weekend bag (to simply carry Blackberry, lip gloss and wallet). I am thrilled to have just accepted a position in the Advertising Sales department at Elle Décor magazine. Among the many things that are filling my mind about starting a new job, one of my top priorities is looking the part with a chic office worthy wardrobe. I am definitely going to occupy some of my time over the next few weeks before I start purchasing classic pieces that will look both professional and stylish at my new office. I read an interview with Katie Holmes on New York Magazine yesterday, and as soon as I clicked on the second page, I was immediately drawn to the gorgeous photograph of Katie, specifically the unlikely but so incredibly chic color combo of her outfit. The photo credits site her blouse as Marc by Marc Jacobs, pants by Holmes & Yang (Katie's own collaboration), and pumps by (who other than?)Christian Louboutin. I'm determined to re-create this look for the next appropriate occasion and have found a few pieces to put it together at a bit more affordable price point.

THE little THINGS

This past weekend I visited Brooklyn Flea and was fascinated with all of the picture frames, jewelry, and old prints that the seemingly endless rows of vendor booths held. Although I went to the flea looking for these items, I instead went home with three hand-made dark silver hooks that I plan on hanging (with the help of my boyfriend and his power drill) on the wall next to my door for coats, purses, scarves and keys. I was so overly excited about these $5 hooks that I realized sometimes it's the littlest things that can make us happy and make an apartment feel special. Below are a few more small items that I think can make a big difference in the way a space feels and lift a mood every time you glance at it.

I came across the pumps from Aldo below and love the deep burgundy shade for Fall and Winter. The dark bordeaux looks luxe and expensive, and feels festive for the upcoming holiday season. This Saturday I'm so excited to be making my first trip to Brooklyn Flea. With an impressive list of vintage clothing vendors, I'm anticipating walking through rows and rows of vendor booths on the look out for thrifty finds. I have a few specific things in mind that I'll be sure to keep an eye out for...

A braided belt, preferably a men's belt that is big enough to wrap around me twice, to wear over sweaters and blazers.

A pair of perfectly worn in flat boots to satisfy my yearning for these Steven by Steve Madden boots (posted about here).

A pair of retro sunnies, possibly with a bright hued frame for Fall.

I once saw an article in one of the celebrity weeklies documenting LiLo's 30 or so day legging wearing stint, and I realized that I've gone days, no weeks, wearing leggings every single day a la Lindsay. They are so flattering on smaller body types and can be paired with virtually any type of top, jacket or shoes. I have countless pairs of plain black leggings that I wear with almost everything through Fall & Winter, but I think this year I should add a little variety with some of these not so plain black leggings.

KEEPING COZY

Considering it's 90 degrees in NYC today and I'm shivering in my over AC'd office, I'm already thinking about how I'm going to keep warm at work once the outside temperatures start to drop, and cozy knits seem to be the answer. I tend to always buy black, beige or another neutral color when it comes to sweaters and wraps, and while I still love these pieces in solid neutrals, I also love the idea of throwing something like the patterned Asos blanket wrap sweater (below) over leggings and a top with boots or a fitted dress with tights to add downtown edge to otherwise office-y look. Chunky knits are both practical and a trend-setting piece in AW10 collections, and I think a few of these cozy-chic sweaters will keep me warm at my desk all Winter long.

I'm on a serious mission - finding the perfect black ankle bootie that can be paired with everything throughout Fall & Winter. This staple shoe can be paired with virtually anything in a Fall wardrobe - skinny jeans, leggings, wide-leg trousers, skirts and dresses. Gilt featured the line Ever in their sales today and I fell in love with every single item, which prompted me to visit their site (Ever), which has even more beautiful pieces. I love the earth-inspired tones of everything, with names like 'salt,' 'iron,' apple,' and 'calm' and the cotton and silk fabrics, which seem to lay perfectly and feel equally as comfy. While some Ever pieces are on the pricey side (though the quality seems worth the cost), many of the soft, luxe looking tees and tanks are completely affordable and the sale items are heavily discounted. I'm so happy to have discovered this LA-based line and hope to add a few of these stylish, yet easy pieces to my wardrobe soon.

The combination of a growing obsession with owning these Steven by Steve Madden boots and Shop Bop's "The Great Outdoors" lookbook today made me do a little searching for what other camping-chic boots are out there for A/W10. I love the idea of pairing these boots with Fall's other emerging trend, chunky knits and sweaters, but being sure to balance the look with some feminine and sexy touches, like tight leggings and/or a flirty, sheer top. While the Steven pair are still my top pick, I'm loving the other styles (below), and think this is the perfect casual/weekend boot for upcoming Fall weather.

FALL UNIFORM

With each season, I tend to stick to a "uniform" on the weekends, and end up wearing some variation of the same look. When that perfect Fall weather hits NYC, I look forward to Sundays when I throw on said uniform and walk around the city for hours with my boyfriend. I just saw these Steven boots while browsing the Vince Lookbook on Shop Bop and immediately knew they would be a part of this Fall's weekend uniform. Inspired by Vince's comfy and worn-in yet still stylish and sleek looking basics, these boots would be the perfect edgy touch to basic leggings, tank and sweater -- my idea of the perfect Sunday outfit. However, come evening, boyfriend and I are ready to enjoy the last hours of the weekend with dinner out at a neighborhood restaurant. I love the idea of shifting one side of this sweater to create a slouchy, one-shoulder look and switching out the Steven boots and cozy scarf for a pair of black booties and layered necklace. SPOTTED: LEOPARD PRINT ACCESSORIES

So much leopard and so little time as seen in Elle's Trend Report: Leopard Print. While some of the pieces are strictly lust-worthy (read: the $21,000 Balmain jacket), a leopard print scarf, clutch or pair of gloves is a more accessible and just as luxe-looking way to rock Fall's leopard print trend. I'm loving both leopard clutches from Top Shop below, which would be perfect paired with dark washed, destroyed denim, knee high leather boots, a perfectly worn-in sheer tee (or sheer, floaty top for date night) and a chunky cardigan or leather jacket. Alexander Wang's leopard print Alla peep-toe wedges proved to be a force stronger than nature, selling out across boutiques and online shops everywhere, but they're back in stock in most places and just as phenomenal. Although it's easy to find an affordable, soft, leopard print scarf, I couldn't resist including the extravagant YSL version below. I just opened up this morning's Refinery29 email and was floored by the gorgeous color trends they are reporting for Fall 2010. The lush purple, olive greens and metallics are gorgeous - plain and simple - and camel is a classic Fall/Winter staple color that I'm so excited to see back in the spotlight this season. (TEAL) BLUE HAZE

One of my favorite new found colors is a dark teal shade that is so complimentary to most if not all skin tones and hair colors. I love the shade in the form of silky, dresses (I'm wearing the Forever 21 frock below today), and because of the versatile fabric, cut and color, these shorter sheaths can be transitioned to Fall/Winter when paired with thigh-high socks, lush leather boots and an edgy leather jacket. Something to wear solely in the Summer months is the Winter Kate teal patterned maxi dress below (Nicole Richie = amazing designer IMO). What other colors/shades are you loving right now?

QUEEN OF HEARTS

While browsing Asos' summer sale, I came across the Heart Jacquard Skirt below and was instantly attracted the sweet pattern, something I've never worn before or thought I would like. This prompted me to look for other heart patterned pieces and I love what I've found. Since these pieces are sweet and cute, try pairing them with something contrasting to add edge, like a thin tank with an exposed lace bra (posted here), a studded belt or sky high platforms. These breezy and lovely pieces are equal parts sweet and seductive (with the right pairings) and seem to be perfect for an afternoon coffee or low key night at the movies.

SUMMER BEAUTY SURVIVAL

The summer heat definitely throws a curve ball into one's beauty routine, but this year I'm prepared with several beauty products (all below) that are life savers for the sweltering subway rides, to my over air conditioned office, to weekends at the beach.

1. Philosophy Hope in a Jar moisturizer, $38.00 - This light weight moisturizer is formulated without harmful sulfates and synthetic fragrances or dyes and feels like a drink of water for you skin. Evian Mineral Water spray, $15,00 - After a makeup-melting subway ride, mist Evian pure mineral water on your face to restore and refresh makeup and give skin a dose of moisture to stay hydrated in the dry heat AND in the heavily air conditioned office, which can have harsh effects on skin. 3. Peter Thomas Roth Max Daily Defense Moisture Cream SPF 30, $42.00 - I not only hate the feel of slathering think sunscreen on my face, but many are formulated with harmful chemicals and synthetics that can be causing more damage than the sun for skin. This light-weight, oil-free cream from Peter Thomas Roth is formulated without sulfates and synthetic fragrances or dyes and is packed with antioxidants to to protect skin from damaging environmental effects and UVA/UVB rays. 4. M.A.C Lip Conditioner SPF 15, $14.50 - The delicate skin on our lips can suffer from harsh sunburn if not protected correctly. My all time favorite lip treatment is M.A.C lip conditioner, and while I used the non-SPF tube version year-round, I need a little protection in the summer, especially on the beach; that's where M.A.C's lip conditioner pot with SPF 15 comes in. CONCRETE JUNGLE

It is H.O.T. in NYC and what better way to deal with the heat than to embrace tribal inspired prints. I'm loving Ikat prints on everything including tops, dresses, purses, and bikinis, and the busy, colorful pattern adds an exotic and unique feel to any outfit. Although busy, Ikat patters are so versatile -- wear as a top, paired with a solid mini skirt and flat sandals or with a dress (mini or maxi)with flat sandals for a day of lunch and shopping or wedges for a summer night out. If you're feeling really daring, pair multiple Ikat prints together (like a top and a clutch, or a bikini and a cover-up), only making sure that the two pieces share one common color in their intricate patterns. WIDE BRIMMING IT

I just bought a panama-style hat from an NYC street vendor similar to this one available at J. Crew and wore it all weekend long to shade my face from the sun while reading or playing paddle ball on the beach. It not only looked cute and beachy, but was a welcome break from over-sized shades to shield my eyes/face from the sun. I'm hooked on beach hats now and have my eye on several of the floppy, wide-brimmed styles below as my next beachy style purchase.

THE ESSENTIAL TANK

Summer shopping means silky dresses, printed rompers, ankle-wrap sandals and dozens of other unique items, but no one can get through the hot summer months without the perfect breezy tank top. Racer-back tanks are an absolute essential and can be effortlessly paired with jean shorts, body-con skirts, wide leg linen pants, skinny white denim, bikinis - the possibilities are endless. A bra situation can be the only setback to rocking a paper thin tank, but I recently picked up a Top Shop nude bandeau top (similar to this one available on shopbop.com) and have shamelessly worn it multiple times under various thin and/or racer-back tanks in just a short amount of time. By far my favorite shade this summer is coral, whether it be coral bikinis, coral dresses or coral jewelery, and I'm finding the best use of coral shades is makeup. The shade is so complimentary to a tan and provides the perfect accent to hot, sun-kissed skin. COVER UP!

4th of July weekend is here!! I have no trouble finding cute kinis, but I always seem to get stuck when it comes to finding the perfect cover up. However, several designers seem to have their finger on what makes the perfect beach cover up. Sheer and short (a la the Vix and Love Quotes frocks below) are my preferred style, but I also love the DVF maxi; it's low-cut neck line and crochet detail makes it equal parts sweet and sexy. Juicy Couture is always a good stand by for beach cover ups and a bright pink is so pretty and summery. It may be too late to purchase these cute covers for this holiday weekend, but I'm certainly going to order one (or more) to get me through this hot NYC summer, which definitely calls for multiple out-of-the-city weekend trips. COOKIES, CUPCAKES & DECOR

In addition to all things style and beauty, my other interests/hobbies include organic baking and home decor. I live in a tiny NYC apartment, but have always loved my cute, miniature space. Recently, I've gotten just slightly bored with the small space and have decided to do some redecorating when I came across "Apartment Therapy's Big Book of Small, Cool Spaces" by Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan - jack pot! This book is absolutely fantastic and makes me wish I had 20 small apartments to decorate and live in. Each space is equally unique, chic and practical and offers dozens of amazing ideas to make any small apartment space fabulous. I can't wait to begin the redecorating process!

While in the book store, I always manage to make my way to the cooking, specifically baking, section and am loving the "BabyCakes" cook book by BabyCakes NYC bakery founder and owner, Erin McKenna. BabyCakes offers organic and vegan and DELICIOUS sweet treats(my specialty), so I don't need to make many changes/substitutions when baking with the books' recipes. I'm also excited to make a variety of cookies from "Martha Stewart Cookies" by Martha Stewart Living Magazine & Victor Schrager. Baking from regular (read: non-organic) recipes gives me the ability to get creative with the original ingredients/measurements to create delicious organic treats, and makes me feel like the recipe is somewhat my own. I recently bought the below Sam Edelman flat sandals in this gorgeous Citron shade. I was a little hesitant at first, but I'm finding the shade works similar to a neutral, in other words goes with everything, but has the bonus ability to add a pop of color to any ensemble. NEVER ENOUGH WEDGES

I'm a sucker for wedges, and would easily buy 4 pairs each summer if my paychecks allowed. I'm especially partial to neutral colored espadrilles. Their nude tone elongates legs, making them seem longer and leaner and their multi-inch wedge platform makes walking a breeze (compared to stilettos), AND, they go with every single thing in a summer wardrobe - sundresses, linen pants, jeans, shorts, skirts! I just caught a glimpse of the new BCBG windows and they're filled with gorgeous watercolor inspired floral print dresses. While I don't usually flock to prints, I'm loving these floral patterns that have a watercolor look to them. They feel so light, summary and romantic, and make me want to throw on a pair of wedges and go to a rooftop party under the stars. The Mcginn frock with puff sleeves is especially exciting and adds edge to a normally feminine look. DENIM + BANDAGE SKIRTS

The other day I saw a girl wearing a perfect fitting light-wash denim shirt and a semi high-waisted bandage skirt a la Herve Leger -- the combination was so surprising and SO chic! I had to recreate the look on my own, and I am now loving the way these two pieces go together like they were made for each other. The contrast of casual worn in denim and a sleek, tight bandage skirt paired with leather wedges is summary and laid back, but put together and stylish. Pair the look with an oversized or cross-body handbag for lunch or a day at work or grab a clutch in a bright color for a dinner ressie or night out. I am so excited for sandal season, partly because it means weekly pedi's are a must. I've never been big on lace, but I recently saw a girlfriend's gorgeous all lace wedding gown, and it prompted me to do a little lace investigating. I was pleasantly surprised with all the delicate and pretty yet still sexy and trendy lace tops and skirts I saw. I recently snagged an H&M top in a gorgeous neon coral hue with cut out shaping at the neckline and can't wait to find the perfect pair of neutral silk shorts to pair it with. Neon colors and neutral tones, like beige and khaki, are an unexpected pairing but look oh-so-lovely together. The bright colors contrasted with a classic neutral are perfection for summer, and rope and braided details like the heavenly wedges and lush leather belts below add a summery and even nautical feel to the ensemble. HAREM INSPIRED

At first, I was terrified of harem pants and planned on leaving them to the experts (i.e. Ashley Olsen, Sienna Miller and Rachel Zoe). However, I recently picked up a more tailored pair at BCBG in LA that I absolutely love! My BCBG pair are in black satin, and now that I've had such success with them, I am dieing to try new colors, materials and styles of this harem inspired look. While the pair I've been rocking are copped to fit right below my knee, I also like the full length styles and am anxious to snag a pair. Since harem pants are a statement in themselves, I'm loving them paired with a simple fitted, v-neck tee and chunky wedges or wooden platforms. Below are a few of the looks I'm hoping to try next! OFF TO THE RACES

My boyfriend just told me we were invited by friends to the Belmont Stakes, which are the third and final leg of horse races for the Triple Crown. Of course my first thought was, what do I wear?? While I'd like to envision myself in a floral dress and large sun hat sipping a mint julep a la the Kentucky Derby, I think a large part of going to the race is participating in tailgate style festivities complete with BBQing, beer, friends and other partying spectators. Cut-off shorts are always a go-to for me for these kinds of casual, care free events and I think a cute cropped top like the one from Top Shop below will keep me cool and cute in the sweltering June heat. However, I'll be hoping that the opportunity presents itself to wear this body hugging floral dress (also from Top Shop) and a floppy brimmed hat while being served hor'dourves and summer cocktails!

I'm so excited to see that rompers are back this summer! Rompers are such a fun way to rock a short hemline, make it possible to look cute and feel super comfy at the same time and most importantly, you only have to choose one thing from your closet! There are SO many different romper looks available - silk, jersey, linen, belted, two-tone, floral - and below are just a few of my favorites that I've seen recently. Since a romper makes a fairly bold statement, simply pair one with platforms or wedges, throw hair in a pony and stack on a few wooden and/or lucite bangles for a night out. For a more casual look, rompers can work by just putting on flat sandals and you're good to go for anything the day has to bring!

SPRINGING INTO SUMMER

This time of year is always tough because it's still a little chilly, but I'm dieing to break out dresses and sandals! I find myself staring at my closet every morning not wanting to put on fall clothes but knowing it's also not quite time for summer ensembles. I mentioned in an earlier post that I'm loving wide leg pants lately, and part of the reason is because they are breezy for spring/summer weather but also keep me covered up and warm. Pair dark colored wide leg pants with a flirty pink top and add some edge (and warmth) to the look with a leather jacket -- I'm loving the gray one pictured below for spring. Peep toe wedges are the perfect mix of fall with their oxford feel and spring with their wedge heel and ability to show off a pedi. Add a scarf for warmth on those extra breezy mornings. With these pieces, dressing for this in-between-seasons time doesn't seem like torture after all.

SUMMER LOVING

I'm itching to get out of leggings and rain boots and into an effortless summer uniform of jean shorts, easy tanks and flat sandals. For me, this is the ideal weekend outfit for hot NYC days either tanning in Central Park, strolling SoHo or brunching with friends. Cut off shorts and perfect fitting racer back tanks are key for steamy temperatures. Adding a cuffed sandal and a stand out piece of jewelry make this summer ensemble understated and comfortable but stylish. Summer can't come soon enough and I'm hoping to be able to add some of these fab pieces to my summer 2010 wardrobe (especially the Tapeet sandals & House of Harlow necklace)!

WIDE VIEW

I'm having a wide leg pants moment and realized I've worn them two out of the past 3 days to work (currently wearing a white, cotton/linen blend Elizabeth & James pair). I've been wearing high-waist versions to work for a more professional look but can't wait to break out a more relaxed pair - my Seven For All Mankind faded wash, wide-leg jeans this weekend. Whether it be a cotton or denim pair, the snug fitting waist of wide leg pants creates a curvy and sexy silhouette, while the wide leg is laid back, casual and cool. I love that they can paired with anything from simple fitted tanks to loose-fitting hippie chic tops AND either flat jeweled sandals or sky-high stacked wedges...what CAN'T wide pants be worn with!? I'll continue to live in them all summer long and hopefully I can add a black pair like these below to my collection.

TOM FORD'S BLACK ORCHID

I just popped into Sephora to buy face wash and got a pleasant treat when I opened my bag to see two samples of Tom Ford's Black Orchid perfume. O M G it is to die for. It's so rich and luxurious, I instantly felt glamorous after spritzing it on my wrists. After looking at what notes the fragrance contains, I realized why I love it so much -- gardenia and jasmine are two of my favorite smells and are included in this heavenly perfume. Other notes include bergamot, mandarin, ylang-ylang, patchouli, sandalwood and vanilla. In fabulous Tom Ford style, the bottle is black and dramatic with touches of gold and would be a gorgeous addition to any bureau or bathroom counter. I know what my next Sephora purchase is going to be!

Lately I've been loving any piece with the word "boyfriend" in it, including boyfriend jeans and boyfriend blazers. With Spring already here, I want to throw on flirty sundresses and go, but sometimes need a little extra warmth for chilly mornings on the way to work or chilly nights on the way to dinner. A white boyfriend blazer is the ideal thing to put over dresses, shorts and skinny jeans for a put together but totally effortless look. A few that I'm dieing to add my closet are below.

Who says you can't have two boyfriends? Boyfriend jeans are so perfect for a Saturday picnic in the park or lazy Sunday afternoon stroll. Paired with a fitted tank or V neck tee, boyfriend jeans look so sexy but are SO comfortable. Flat sandals are my go-to for loose fitting jeans, especially a pair with some extra details like gemstones or embossed leather to add a little girly edge to the look. SWEET ORGANIC DREAMS

While I maintain an almost (ALMOST) completely organic diet, I never put much time and money into incorporating other organic elements like clothing, furniture or bedding into my life. I've seen countless 'go green' articles featuring organic clothing and I've never really seen anything that I love enough to buy and wear. However, West Elm has the most beautiful collection of organic bedding, including comforters, duvet covers, blankets and pillow cases/shams.
